Sensei Chris has turned a life long passion for teaching others into a Martial Arts Dojo like no other. After several years of teaching International youth organizations he turned his efforts to the martial arts. Sensei Chris began his formal training of the martial arts in 1989. After reaching the rank of purple belt in Kempo, he found himself teaching the children’s program at his first dojo in Oregon, WI. By the time he reached his green belt test he was running all of the classes and managing the school.

Sensei Chris eventually moved on to two more dojos where he was the chief instructor as well. Bothered by the commercialization of the martial arts and the increasing lack of credibility of the black belts that were being promoted, Sensei Chris opened Martingilio Martial Arts. Established in 2004, Martingilio Martial Arts has continued to grow into his vision of integrity and credibility. Training under many of the greatest martial artists in the world has helped Sensei Chris to become a highly skilled fighter as well as a great teacher. His instructors are Grandmaster Chris Thomas, a 9th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo and Isshinryu Karate, Grandmaster Ken Smith, Master of Tapi-Tapi and a 9th Degree Black Belt, and Grandmaster Dusty Seale, a 9th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo. Sensei Chris’ contribution to the martial arts has been undisputed. He continues to teach 6 days each week as well as puts on a “white belt” regularly as he feels that he is always a student.

Dr. Marcel Goldschen
Modern Arnis & Ryukyu Kempo

  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo tode-jitsu
  • 2nd Degree Black Belt in Modern Arnis

Marcel first started martial arts following a knee injury that kept him from playing soccer for almost an entire year. When he began studying Tang Soo Do, a traditional Korean style similar to Tae Kwon Do, he was lucky enough to have a very open minded instructor who routinely brought in martial artists from other disciplines. That is when he began his studies of the Filipino Art of Modern Arnis. Marcel has been extremely fortunate to have trained with the Masters of Tapi-Tapi, including Randi Shea, M.D., Jim ladis, Chuck Gauss, Gaby Roloff, Ken Smith, and Brian Zawilinski.

Through many seminars he was introduced to the use of pressure points, Ryukyu Kempo, and Jodoryu-jitsu from incredibly talented people like Chris Thomas, Will Higginbotham, T.A. Frazer, Dustin Seale, and George Dillman. Marcel is a currently a student of Ryukyu Kempo under Sensei Martingilio as well as our Modern Arnis Instructor.
